I am anxious about college

Some of you may be in the same boat as me. If it wasn't obvious enough (you are not along). Though many people use their strong personalities to hide it, we are all a little bit scared of this huge change about to happen in our lives. Especially if you are moving to a new state like me. I'm going to Louisiana for school while right now I live in California. These two states are VERY different. What gives me comfort is knowing that my friend from school is going to be living in the dorms next to me and that I have family out there I can visit. Of course I'm going to miss my family but at the same time I'm excited to leave home and experience something new. I want to grow and find who I am/ what my passions are in life. But this post is not going to be a mentally healthy post on how to overcome anxiety. I will literally be listing things I'm anxious about in hopes it helps. Now, for the moment you've been waiting for, here's what I am anxious about:

1. I am anxious about making friends

I would describe myself as a VERY awkward person. I am nervous in social situations and I make too many mistakes to count. I don't want to end up alone freshman year, sulking around waiting for someone to notice me. I hate to admit it but unless I get bit by a spider that changes my personality, I'm going to be stuck like this forever. If anyone has tips on how to be more comfortable with yourself as a human or even better, on how to make friends in college, I'm all ears.

2. I'm anxious about sharing a dorm room with someone

What if I end up being a terrible roommate? Or what if my roommate is terrible? What if we argue and fight? Or what if we don't talk at all? For me I want to be friends with my roommate. We don't have to be close but I don't want it to be like we are avoiding each other. I want it to be chill. I want to be able to connect with her on something. As you can see, I'm overthinking this already. I just don't want to have the worst year of my life. That's all I'm saying.

3. I'm anxious showering in community bathrooms

I need to know the secret. When is the best time to use the community bathroom? Because I'm not about to waltz into a crowded bathroom and force myself to take an unnecessarily quick shower while everyone is judging each others bodies in their nasty little side conversations. That is not the life for me, no thank you. Not to mention that EVERYTHING is going to be wet from water and whatever else they might do in there. At the end of the day I can rant all I want but that isn't going to change the fact that I have to deal with this. So I need to know the tricks and tips before the dreaded day comes.

4. I'm anxious about studying in my room.

I'm the type of person who gets distracted easily while studying. I can see myself getting distracted by dorm accessories, what I want to do the next day, when my classes are, what I need to get involved in, what my roommate is doing, and the infamous "when is this do" (then I start texting people in my class and the next thing I know I'm on instagram looking at slime complications). In the library it's different, I'm motivated by people around me. In a coffee shop its different, the vibe is chill there. But for those late nights when the coffee shop is closed and the library is packed, what do I do? Am I just doomed?

5. I'm anxious for the weekends

I know what your thinking, "but the weekend is the best part". I'm scared that I'm going to be all by myself on the weekends. What if I end up having literally nothing to do. I don't want to end up watching the youtube videos where veterans come home then start thinking about my home. What do I do with free time if I'm lonely? I hope you guys enjoyed this list of things I'm anxious about. My pain is here for your entertainment. Comment below if you can relate to any of these things I'm anxious about. Thank you for reading.
